Have you got a story to share about what listening to birds means to you?
The One Show are interested in making a short film about the impact of listening to birdsong on wellbeing and mental health, and Iâve been asked to help them find some interviewees. More detailsđ

BBC One Show are making a five-minute film in the new year about the effects of birdsong on mental health. They hope to find people who'd be willing to speak about their own experiences of how listening to birds has helped them.Â
It can be from a range of experiences. For example, perhaps going out every day is calming before stressful work meetings, or hearing the birds has helped with grief for a loved one, or has been a way to get you outdoors during a difficult time.Â
The idea is to make a hopeful and inspiring film cherishing what nature can offer us personally through hardship.
Initial conversations would be in confidence, and with no obligation to be further involved.

The final shriek of 2022 will be with you on New Yearâs eve. After that we pick up the pace again, with a bird sound every week to warm us up for spring. Yes, spring. We can dare to start thinking about it. đ±
In the meantime, happy Christmas!

I have bird feeders on my patio. I can hear the birds even with my windows closed. Itâs such a happy sound! Hearing and seeing them is such a treat!
Hi Charlie. Someone just thought of me on seeing your call out. I have a thing about rook song - a little known fact is that they have regional accents just as I do! I first began to get interested in rooks during a period of complicated grief but then the sound recordings & photographs I took became a decade-long project (now in year 4) connecting me to strangers all over the world who write to me on grief & hope as the things with feathers. Iâd love to be considered for the film. Hereâs a v short piece on my birds of Firle I wrote for Little TollerâŠ
