There are plenty of them here, in Hampshire, although I haven’t heard any so far this year. I will be listening out for them and watching the Norway spruce at the bottom of the garden where I know they like to hang out. Earlier in the year I was so pleased to see one creeping up the silver birch as I stared out of the window (instead of working!!) and just after that, a stream of starlings heading to their roost.
Another great and informative post Charles. My mum used to have a GSW regularly visit her hanging bird feeders. Always a treat to see. M
