Such a great post to wake up to Charlie 😁 We have got back from Corsica yesterday where there were loads of greenfinches, doing a lot of wheezing! That seemed to be their main call and I watched them throwing their heads back as the sound came out. Not so common in Birmingham 🥲
What a lovely post for a Sunday morning! I very much enjoy your anthropomorphic and metaphorical descriptions of these beautiful and marvelous creatures. We don’t have them where I am in Texas and so I enjoy hearing them here.
The woman who taught me the greenfinch sound described it as a zip which is what I always think of, although wheeze is more accurate really. Sadly I don’t hear them that often.
