Now this is a bird I’d love to see, but has so far evaded me despite lots of visits to the countryside across the UK. Always the wrong time wrong place I guess. I live in hope. Their plumage astounds me. Such unique creatures. M

Had a very memorable evening listening for these incredible birds on Dunwich Heath in Suffolk years ago, it's always stayed with me. What a privilege. Hope they can still be heard there...

Nightjars are extraordinary. When I first heard one on Dartmoor, it reminded me of a dial-up modem. I remember catching the reflective glow of a nightjar's eyes with my torch, too. Magical beings.

Love the Nightjar's songs. They live in the woods behind our house in US. I have yet to see one - at least that I know of - they are so well camouflaged!
