Thanks for the contrasting robins. I've been in central Europe for 15 years and am preparing to move back to the US in the summer. While I'm looking forward to refamiliarizing myself with all my old feathered friends, you and your blog have been instrumental (ha!) in helping me recognize what I hear in the park across the street from where I live now. Cheers!
Thank you Andrea, I'm glad to hear it's been of use in central Europe, we share so many of the same birds. The gulf between Europe and the US is rather wider, though I gather you may be returning to plenty of starlings and house sparrows...
...grackles, blue jays, cardinals, chickadees, and mockingbirds... It's a whole other world of birds, and then a completely different one on the other side of the Rockies, but we are looking mainly at the northeast and the above list of birds.
As a child when someone told me Mary Poppins was holding a robin I laughed in their face. I also didn't realise until I was about 12 that Dick Van Dyke was supposed to be English in that film. So much confusion!
Thank you for posting these lovely pieces, I really enjoy them.
Robins are my favourite bird. Separate individuals have certain territories in the local park usually based around certain benches where they beg humans for crumbs with their song. They are all so sweet until the robin from the next territory along tries to gatecrash the party. Then hell lets loose. It’s interesting to watch and I do love them so.

Not to mention all those warblers too. How wonderful!
Genuinely upset about the hideous oversight in Mary Poppins...
It's best not to listen closely to any outdoor soundtracks to any TV you've ever loved. Ruined, all ruined.
I’m stateside and love our friendly robins - had no idea European robins were unrelated. Thanks for this pleasant audio to end my night. 🩵
Thanks Lindsey, I'm glad it provided a nightcap!

Thank you! Suspension of disbelief required for many aspects of Mary Poppins, not least Dick van Dyke's accent.
I didn’t know about these two robins. What a delight to learn and to hear them both. Thank you!
Glad to hear it, thank you Holly!
