I love swifts and am currently waiting impatiently for them to return to our street in Edinburgh! There are around four active nests near where we live and fingers crossed swifts will use our nest boxes this year....
There’s something inherently uplifting about the call and flight of a Swift. So acrobatic and so evocative of spring and early summer. Always a plus if you’re lucky enough to catch one arcing in to take a drink from the surface of a lake, all whilst on the wing of course - precision flying at its best! M
Raised my spirits no end seeing and hearing them overhead on the walk home from Hove beach on Saturday. They were appearing overhead in small squadrons coming up the Ouse Valley today as we walked from Southease into Lewes. Pure joy in winged form.

I see a bird asleep in the Swift box. So they are back, right?
Two of them now :-) A well deserved rest!

I have seen the first of the swallows down the lane this year, but no swifts as yet. I will keep my ears open for them in the coming weeks 💛
