I love the song of the wren. It was always my favourite native bird when I didn’t know how wonderful its song was. Years before I knew what was singing that beautiful intricate song, I would listen for it in the mornings and those days when the wrens were quiet I was a little sad. Then one day some years since, but still a fair while ago, I saw a wren in the garden and saw it singing and I couldn’t believe such a loud song came from such a tiny bird. And it was such an amazing treat to learn that my favourite bird song came from my favourite tiny bird.

Another enjoyable and informative post. I love wrens - one of my favourite British birds - up there with Long-tailed Tits, Jays and Kingfishers. I’ve only ever been lucky enough to see them ‘flying’ solo though.

Wonderful. Thanks for the great information. Have you ever heard 2 wrens saying good night to each other. 2 have been roosting in our horse shelter all winter and when they come in for the night they have the sweetest little tiny chatter before hunkering down. I can send on a recording if you are interested ✨️
